Update time

Just thought I would pop in for a quick update.  I just finished week four in another program at my gym, and I am happy with the results.  Not losing nearly as quickly as I have in the past, but I am really working on doing this for me and not to win prizes.  I went 14 weeks straight of completely denying myself anything remotely bad for me, and I ended up eating poorly for a couple of weeks afterwards making up for lost time, I suppose.  But I am back on the wagon instead of trying to eat it, and trying to find a happy medium, trying to make lifestyle changes instead of dieting. 

Anyways, the details:

In four weeks, I lost 6 pounds, 2 inches, and 1% of my body fat.  The weight loss brings me to a total of 55 pounds since October.  There are days where that number boggles me, that I was actually carrying around an extra 55 pounds, and there are days that I feel like that is a drop in the bucket compared to where I should be.  I try not to have too many of THOSE days ;)

I am pretty excited to find myself some hot new clothes to take with me on my trip to the Bahamas next month - I would have never in a million years felt comfortable a year ago in anything that would be fun and comfortable there, which makes this all the better :)

Love seeing more folks here. I did it, got off my Hugh Jass and got on the treadmill. 30 lovely minutes later I've walked and run 1.67 miles (I'm getting started!) and am nice and sweaty.

I'm on board...

My Hugh Jass is getting kicked to the curb too. Ala Phen - I'm good all day only to lose my cool at night. Sucktastic!

Things I've got to help kick Hugh to the curb:

* one free treadmill from friend
* one new pair of running shoes for said treadmill
* one new pair pants for running in on said treadmill in said shoes
* three new sports bras for running in said pants, in said shoes, on said treadmill
* one HUGH JASS that gained over 10 lbs last year that NEEDS to get gone.

Motivation enough? I think so! Plus, I've got this new kick arse gig at work that requires me to look better in my clothes than I do now. I've got places to go and people to impress and darn it, the Hugh Jass is impressing no one!

ETA: I'm going to call my dr and see if we can talk about weaning me off of my Migraine medication. I started taking it a year ago for vertigo issues (possible Migraine Associated Vertigo aka MAV) and 2 side effects are 1) craving sweets and 2) gaining weight. This doesn't help my propensity to snack and I'm hopeful I'll do ok without meds?!? I'll see what course she wants to take - but I'd love to get off the meds and see how I feel.

Need to get up in the AM and get on that treadmill!

(no subject)

So DH & I made a huge step yesterday.  We joined a gym.  There was a sign up in the local grocery store about trading time in a gym's child care room for a free membership.  So DH is working two hours/week on Monday mornings, and I've got two hours every Monday evening from 6-8.  Depending on if I have to watch a friend's kids tomorrow while she goes to visit a friend going through a rough time, I will either get to go work out tomorrow night or Wednesday.  I am really looking forward to it - happy that we found a gym in our price range, and happy to be making a step in the right direction together.  

Hopefully this will be the motivation I need to stay on task and update all of you more frequently.

WW points

Just thought I'd share...

I was looking for points for specific foods and I found the formula on Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weight_Watchers.

p = points
c = calories
f = fat
r = dietary fiber

p = (c / 50) + (f / 12) - (Mininum(r,4))/ 5

The minimum thing is basically they allow a max of 4 g of fiber, so if your fiber is 3, use 3 in the calculation, if your fiber is 7, use 4 in the calculation.

Hugh Jass Check-in

Ladies, it's bad around here. I just returned from our Chicago vacation, and my pants don't fit. Not just any pants, mind you. The pants I bought 4 weeks postpartum as my "Transition" pants. Pants only to be worn for a few weeks while I "transitioned" into my normal size. This falls into the category of (said in your best Supernanny voice) Un-asseptable.

I am a member of WW online, and I need to start back. Now. I'm such a perfectionist that once I fell off the wagon, I got really down on myself and stayed off. But it's time to jump back on. Because I hate the way I feel, the way I look, the way my clothes fit. I hate the way I'm eating and what I'm teaching my kids. And I hate the money i'm spending on crapfood.

So, I'm checking in. At 157 pounds and 5'3". And squeezing myself into a size 12. I have a good 37 pounds to lose to be at my ideal healthy weight. Maybe Thomas and I will workout together with Carmen Electra's dance DVD tonight.

Hugh Jass on vacation?

Could it be he is on vacation? Is he looking for a new place to live?? This week I have had 2 pairs of pants fit that didn't a few weeks ago. I was so happy I almost cried. 

I've made a new rule for myself: I must have at least one salad as a meal per day.
